PSN makes debut on league table of Britain’s biggest private companies.

Five Scottish companies have won a place on the latest Sunday Times Deloitte Top Track 100, published this weekend. The eighth annual league table ranks Britain’s 100 biggest private companies by latest sales.

PSN appears on the league table for the first time, ranked No 76.  PSN is one of the top ten largest private Scottish companies, turnover of over $1.2billion, with an order book worth more than $2.3billion and work secured to 2014.

The five Scottish companies made a significant contribution to the economy, employing 33,000 staff in their latest financial year, and generating around £5.5 billion of sales and £334 million in profits.  They feature on the league table alongside a host of high street names, such as New Look, House of Fraser, John Lewis and Specsavers. Other well-known brands on the list include Virgin Atlantic, JCB and Dyson.

James Baird, head of the Scotland region at Deloitte, the title sponsor of the league table, commented: “Large, privately-owned companies continue to be an important part of the UK's economy, and it is great to see Scotland represented in the Top Track 100.  There is no doubt that many businesses are facing tough, uncertain times. But the companies on this list have the potential to help provide the jobs and stability which the economy needs, as the country recovers from the recession.”
