Graduate FAQs
PSN enhances the performance and extends the life of energy assets around the world, from engineering and construction to operations, maintenance and decommissioning.
We are one of Scotland's ten largest private companies with a global network stretching across five continents. We source, nurture and deploy the best people, ensuring that the talent of the entire network is available to customers wherever they need it.
We are a Sunday Times Top 100 company and won the Scottish Offshore Achievement Award for 'Succeeding Through People'.
Our business is supporting existing facilities for oil, gas and other process industries. We provide customers with a responsive, high-quality and cost-effective service.
Our main skills are divided into the following areas:
- Engineering
- Construction
- Hook-up
- Commissioning
- Maintenance
- Support services
Everyone in our team benefits from drawing on the strength of the entire network. To make sure this happens we work internationally to share knowledge and local skills. Our matrix approach to management means most of our staff report to a discipline specialist and a business specialist; this supports them in their area of expertise and ensures that they are always aligned with the needs of the business.
We go wherever our customers need us except where working conditions would require us to compromise on our core values. Tried and tested systems let us start up quickly and tap into our network anywhere in the world, and our sustainable business methods mean that we look to develop a local workforce, establishing our values and training up local talent to deliver projects.
Our dynamic and changing project portfolio means we have operating experience in all climates and across all the major regions of the world.
Our customers include international oil companies like Shell, BP and ExxonMobil, independent operating companies like Nexen, CNR and national oil companies like Sonatrach and the Korea National Oil Company.

We offer our graduates a thorough insight into the industry through technical and personal development activities, mentoring, and rotation around different projects worldwide. As a graduate you will enter a structured two-year training programme that gives you the best possible start in your chosen field. This programme includes extensive on-the-job training, internal and external training courses, and access to specific graduate development.
There will be opportunities to develop and take on real responsibilities early in your career. For instance, a recent major contract involved the transfer of 300 employees from the previous incumbent to PSN employment; despite the complexities, a graduate took the lead role and did a great job.
Whatever your discipline, whether engineering or commercial, we will support you in your professional and personal development. So, whether you are looking for offshore experience, management skills or you have an eye on overseas opportunities, we will work with you to shape a training programme that suits you.
